People – The Heart of The Factory!

People – The Heart of The Factory!

Rebecca Cinnamond

DevOps Support Engineer

  1. Tell me a bit about your role at Denroy.

I originally started at Denroy as a placement student whilst completing my degree at SERC. I was mainly involved with helping to reimplement development modifications made in the previous version of ERP system into the new upgraded version. After enjoying my time as a placement student so much, I was offered a full-time role as a DevOps Support Engineer.

Today my role involves providing IT support to staff within the company, developing system integrations and the continued development of our ERP system amongst a wide range of other responsibilities. I also am heavily involved in the Industry 4.0 implementation project being undertaken by the company.

2. What do you like best about working at Denroy?

Throughout my experience at Denroy, including as a placement student, I have always felt like a valued member of the team. There is a huge focus on employee development and I feel that the more experienced members of my team are invested in ensuring my success within the business. I have been presented many opportunities to complete training courses and industry certifications in my time with the group. Despite being a junior member of the team, suggestions that I make are appreciated and often implemented.

3. What skills and expertise do you bring to the team?

My main areas of expertise would be programming, API development and data analysis. The knowledge that I gained throughout my degree has allowed me to provide input when choosing software to support both our cloud infrastructure and industry 4.0 implementation. I work both independently and with our 3rd party development companies to create system integrations such as the one created between our ERP and time and attendance system using Python. I also enjoy data analysis and often assist in creation of datasets used within reporting by other departments.

4. Have you completed any recent qualifications or courses that have helped you with your job?

I have just completed a BSc in Cloud Computing technologies which has provided me with a wide range of useful skills in relation to my role. I covered a range of topics related to cyber security, application development and infrastructure management.

During the short time I have spent at Denroy, I have also completed advanced PowerBI training to assist in the creation of reporting and visualisation of company data. I will also be completing CISMP (Certificate in Information Security Management Principles) to assist with my role in achieving ISO 27001 standard across the business.

5. Can you provide any insights into future targets you want to achieve within your role?

As I mentioned before, the company has a big focus on implementing Industry 4.0 technology and best practices over the next few years. I am really excited to be at the forefront of such a new field and I can’t wait to see how my role develops within the company as we make progress with this. One of the main goals I would like to achieve is the implementation of a Unified Namespace within Denroy.
